TRT Side Effects and Why Monitoring Matters

TRT done right is safe. TRT done blind is dangerous. The difference is bloodwork.

What we monitor

Quarterly: total and free testosterone, estradiol (E2), hematocrit (red blood cell volume), lipid panel, PSA (over 40).

Common adjustments

If estradiol climbs too high → consider anastrozole. If hematocrit climbs → blood donation or dose reduction. If T isn't moving → frequency or dose adjustment.

Risks of un-monitored TRT

Elevated hematocrit → cardiovascular risk. Aromatized estrogen → bloating, mood, libido issues. Suppressed fertility without an adjunct plan.

The BestRx approach

Bloodwork before prescribing, quarterly labs included, dose adjusted based on YOUR labs — not a generic protocol.
